Oh man, I wish I could write every thing I love about this place, it’s truly unbelievable and it’s sad that in the minds of most people, Mexico is usually seen as a beach resort destination or a corrupt narco-state run by drug lords. However, the majority of people don’t know the facts about Mexico, its culture and its people.
Their opinion is based on stereotypes and bad press. As a result, they are scared to go to Mexico, but not many people actually know what is Mexico known for.
I bring you today 12 cool facts about my home town with the intention of proving how proud I am to be Mexican:
Mexico’s real name is The United States of Mexico and its divided in 31 states, plus the Federal District.
The capital of Mexico officially changed its name from Distrito Federal to CDMX in 2016.
What the hell are burritos? That’s tex-mex food, we don’t have it, please don’t mention it no more!
We have a unique way of speaking Spanish, the Mexican slang. “Qué pedo wey!” (What’s up dude!)
Feel like eating 8 tacos for $3.00 USD? No problem!
Our lemon is your lime, our lime is your lemon.
This one is one of the best! Did you know US citizens are the largest immigration group in Mexico? Ironic isn’t’ it?
We put avocado on EVERYTHING, as we are the growers.
Mexico has 34 UNESCO World Heritage Sites plus, host of one of the seven wonders, Chichen Itzá.
We hold up our liquor like you have never seen before. As the creators of Tequila and Mezcal, we know how to party, if you ever party with a Mexican be sure to cancel your plans for the next 2 days.
